MID YEAR SHOWCASE

It's your time to shine!

Our Mid Year Show is on Saturday 5th July at Ainslie & Gorman Arts Centre.

A $25 performer pass applies for all dancers in the show. The cost of your performer pass contributes to the cost of the overall production of the show, including professional photography, and a drink from our bar on the night! You’ll also need to fill out the Performer Details Form below to let us know which classes you’ll be performing in. This will allow us to get the best running order set up to minimise quick chances or back-to-back performances. The sooner everyone purchases their pass, the sooner we can get the running order out.

Your performer pass must be purchased and detail form completed before Sunday June 22nd.

Please note that no matter how many dances you are performing in, you only need to purchase one performer pass.

FAQ ABOUT THE MID YEAR SHOW

Will there be extra rehearsals outside of class?

From Week 8-10, you may be required to commit to an extra rehearsal outside of your normal class time per week (no more than 3 rehearsals). It is important that all students attend all rehearsals and classes to allow ample technical training time to be invested by your Instructor and have your team feeling ready. Should your class require an extra rehearsal per week, there will be an extra cost per student per rehearsal. This investment is necessary to cater for the resources used of the studio including your Instructors time.

What time do I need to be at the venue?

You are welcome to come to the venue from 12:30pm.

Where is the show?

Gorman Arts Centre, 55 Ainslie Ave, Braddon ACT 2612.

What time is the tech rehearsal and am I required to be there?

Tech run will start at 1pm on the dot. It is compulsory for all performers to be there. We understand that work can get in the way so please speak to your instructor/s if you won’t be able to make it by 1pm.

What time is the show?

Doors open at 5:15pm and the show will start at 5:45pm.

What do I need to bring on the day?

Don't forget your costume(s), makeup, hair accessories and always handy to bring your own mirror. Mirrors and power outlets are limited so it's often best to do as much as you can at home and touch up at the venue. There will be some food available but make sure you bring plenty of water, snacks and food with you.

I’m really nervous!

It’s normal to feel nervous no matter if it’s your first time or your 100th! The rush that will flood your system after a performance is always a wonderful experience. Remember that you are surrounded by a supportive dance crew, a glowing instructor and the people watching from the audience are full of friends and family members - they’re there to cheer you on!

Remember that this show is not about being perfect. It’s about celebrating what we’ve all made of the year so far and being surrounded by your Sunlight fam and the love of dance.

Be mindful that you may not always be the only one feeling nervous. If you see someone struggling, be a pal…share words of encouragement, offer to help, etc.

What does the $25 I pay for my performer pass go towards?

The $25 performer pass goes towards paying for our photographer, staff on the night, and everyone working behind the scenes needed to make the show amazing! You must buy your performance pass by June 22nd.

When you purchase your pass, you will tick what dances you will be performing in. We need to know numbers and what you will be performing in so we can work out our performance order for the night. If you are dancing more than once, we will try and do our best to space out your routines so you have time for costume changes.

Do I get to watch the show?

As our venue this year is on the smaller side for a closer, more intimate show, there will be limited seats available for students to watch. We have some seats put aside so that you might be able to watch some of the show, however we ask that you be mindful of audience members that have bought tickets.

Do I have to buy an audience ticket?

If you are performing on the night, no, you don’t. You just need your performer pass ($25).

Where can we buy tickets for the show?

Audience tickets are available here.
